Driver Requirements-
- You must be 30 years old as of the rental date.
- You must be in possession of a valid US issued Driver's License and present it at the time of rental.
- If the Captain (Driver or Operator) was born on or after January 1,1988 he/she must complete and show proof of the approved NASBLA Boating Education Course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 HP or greater. This FREE course is available online.
Location- The boat is located at a private residential dock in Cornelius, NC so no big marina to deal with. We have plenty of parking and you will launch and return to a private dock in a calm, open-water setting with a no-wake zone. No intimidating marina parking here so getting in and out with the boat will be a breeze! We are located directly across from the restaurant, Hello Sailor in Cornelius, near the intersection of I-77 and Exit 28. (See map below)
Pets- We love furry ones too. Per insurance, only small dog breeds up to 20 pounds are acceptable with a max of 3. Cats don't like to swim and we don't want to find your lost pet snake under the seats, so it's a "dogs only" policy at this time. *No additional fee for pets; However, please review our damage policy as it applies to damage resulting from pets as well.
Alcohol- Cans only for passengers, no glass products. IF you are the Captain, consuming alcohol is not authorized. IF you are pulled over for a vessel check or violation, and deemed "Over the Limit" by alcohol or you are impaired by any other substance, as defined by current North Carolina State Law, it will be treated like DUI and you will be liable for your actions.
Kiddos- Children 12 and under must wear a life-jacket while underway. We encourage you to bring one that will fit appropriately for your child(s) age; However, we will provide multiple children's sized life jackets if you need. If you will require children's life vests, please mention the number and size(s) you require during the booking process.
Capacity- The boat will accommodate a total of 8 occupants (7 plus 1 driver) or up to 1450 lbs. total.
Where Can I Go?- Anywhere within the 520 square miles of Lake Norman! We do however recommend downloading the WAKE app (Lake Norman) for Apple and Android users. While there is a GPS onboard, the Wake app shows all of the restaurants, marinas, areas of interest on the lake and how to get there via your boat. It is a very easy-to-use tool which will help you make the most of your day on the lake!
Towing- Towing inflatables or other sports related items are not permitted as the boat is not designed for this particular activity.
Rafting and Beaching- "Rafting", is defined as tying to another and/or multiple other boats. "Beaching " is defined as driving the bow area of the boat up and onto the shoreline. Because of the possible physical injury associated, and the costly damage that can occur to the vessel, both of these activities are not permitted at this time.
Cancellation Policy- We understand that sometimes "life happens" and you need to change plans. To be fair to both the customer and business operator, we utilize the easy-to-recall, "3,2,1 Cancellation Method".
- Renter cancels within 3 days of scheduled rental time, a 100% refund is issued.
- Renter cancels within 2 days of scheduled rental time, a 50% refund is issued.
- Renter cancels same day of reservation, a 25% refund is issued.
Weather Cancellations- Cancelling for weather and skies categorized as: Cloudy, Partly Cloudy, Overcast, Obscured or any other weather phenomena not deemed "unsafe boating conditions" including, but not limited to: chance of rain or showers not associated with convective activity (lightning), will not be a condition for a refund due to cancellation.
Adverse Weather Cancellation- Within 24 hours of your scheduled departure time, should the local weather, as predicted by the NOAA** , show forecasts including, but not limited to: high winds, lightning, ongoing moderate-to-heavy rain and/or storms, you will be afforded the option to choose a later date and time to enjoy your rental at the same rate and duration.
**The NOAA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. From daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings and climate monitoring, they are the most recognized and comprehensive source for weather related planning and severe weather avoidance. Thus, their resources for inclement weather mitigation are the most widely used for any personal-to-commercial, maritime and aeronautical applications. Therefore, any weather related cancellations by the Renter or Owner shall be evaluated exclusively by utilizing the NOAA website and/ or the NOAA smartphone app, and not other basic apps used by smart phones etc. You can visit their website at: https://www.noaa.gov
"We at Lake Norman Fun Boats, want you to enjoy a super fun, but most importantly a 'safe' day on the lake. We reserve the right to cancel your reservation should the Owner deem conditions for rental to be unsafe and/or for any other reason. In this case, a FULL refund shall be issued."
Damage to Vessel- As the Captain of the vessel, we encourage you to operate the boat in a manner to avoid injury to passenger(s) or self and/or damage to the boat. If damage to the boat is discovered to have occurred, during your rental period, and caused by the Renter, any Passengers and/or Pets, including damage to the onboard equipment or vessel related items are missing: your Credit Card information, stored on a private, encrypted and secure server, shall be charged at the actual cost of repairs and/ or equipment and item replacement costs. Dated photos and receipt copies will be provided to Renter.
The Lawyer Stuff- A liability waiver will be provided to each person to sign upon arrival. The simple version is: "I am an adult and I will take full responsibility for myself, any children or pets onboard, including the boat, should any damage or injury occur to self and/ or vessel."
